Want to grow and promote your business through Social Media?
Social media can be used to build and market your online business. Businesses do this in many ways. I will share with you how I believe you should use Social Media to build your online business. I looked at what I have been doing with social media and tried to establish what I feel is the best way to market yourself as a business.
How to start social media website.
When you first start, you will need to spend a little time building up a following.
You will need to post, follow people, like and comment.
Once you have a few hundred followers, I would stop and concentrate more on your content.
People can still find you. I recommend that you stick with the basic platforms Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.
You do not have to do all at once, it depends on the time you have available to allocate for building your profile.
In the future, I will write posts about each individual platform and the tactics that I have used to grow a following.
There are no friends in business.
The old saying that there are no friends in business made me consider whether many people go about social media with the correct frame of mind.
Social media can be addictive as we see what everyone is doing, read posts and make comments
This is what we want our customers to do, but is it what we should be doing?
For every minute we spend commenting on a post, we could be producing our own content
Many people spend a lot of time trying to be famous. They produce video stories, write huge posts so that they get a lot of comments, try to get reactions by asking opinions and talk about controversial issues. This may make you famous, but does it increase the chances of having these people become your customers? Are they likely to click through to your website?
Can I get more website traffic?
I once heard social media giant Garry Vaynerchuk (Garry Vee) make the comment, it is all about the content you produce.
I think that we all get a little lost along the way and start trying to be famous.
For many of us, this will not make us money. We may have a large following, but often it is just numbers.
Foot traffic walks past our door, but it is our window display and our products that will entice them to have a look, and perhaps buy.
I believe that I can get more website traffic by concentrating on producing good content.
All social media platforms require some interaction, not just blasting of your own content. However, there are ways to easily do this so that you can spend your time efficiently.
How to be active without wasting time
You need to concentrate on responding where appropriate and this is how I am doing this.
Facebook Profile Page. To avoid the Facebook feed, simply go to your name section where you can see your posts and comments and reply directly. You can go to your business page and do the same. When posting, you should ask your friends to like, follow and share your post to increase your foot traffic. It is also advisable to ask your friends to like your business page. Your content should then become the window display.
Twitter – You can click on your tweets and see the responses. Your notifications will tell you who has responded, and you can thank them from there. Because of the way Twitter is set up, you should follow back those that follow you. Your followers are your foot traffic and if they retweet your image and post, they show your window display to others.
Instagram – It is easy to respond to comments on Instagram. Just go to your home page on the computer, hover over your post and if there are comments you can click on the image and respond. Your post is your window display, however the hashtags that you add in the description can increase your foot traffic.
LinkedIn – This is a business platform that allows you to promote yourself to other businesses. It works similar to the others in terms of traffic, however you are reaching out more to business and career personnel and need to target your content accordingly.
Pinterest – Unlike the others, Pinterest is really a search engine rather than a social media profile. It is important to think of it as this. You need to post good content as this is your window display, and when people see your content, they may choose to re-pin it. Re-pinning will increase your foot traffic, and some traffic will visit your website. Foot traffic can also be reached when you add hashtags to your post. You must have your website on all your pins, even images.
YouTube – YouTube is a combination of social media and search engine. I have not spent time on this platform because you do need to spend a lot of time producing content to build up a following and ranking within the search engine. You can make money with YouTube, but it takes total commitment and a lot of effort. Subscribers, catchy thumbnails and good SEO tactics are all required to build foot traffic. However, a lot of foot traffic will not look at your window display regularly.
There are other social media platforms but these are the main ones, and the ones that I have personally used.
Get more website traffic with good content.
On all social media, your content is very important.
You need to share content from your website directly so that people can see what your business is all about.
However, you also need to humanize your content. You do this by posting personal images. This need not be yourself, it could be animals that you see, pets, interesting buildings or scenery, sunsets, flowers and trees, even cloud formations that are interesting.
You don’t have to always blast your audience with buy from my content. You can share interesting photographs as well. On most platforms, you can still add your home page in the content description, but not affiliate links. Think when posting, will this get more website traffic?
Create a social media website.
Have a good look at your social media profiles and ensure that they are aimed at presenting your business rather than trying to make you famous.
Your business is what will make you money. There are slight variations as to how you can set up your profile within the platforms.
Start your social media site correctly so that you can get analytics where the site allows and begin to think like a business, not a social media follower.
Facebook needs you to be a person with the page as a business.
Twitter can be a name and handle. The n
Instagram has a private account, or a business account. You should set up as a business account
Pinterest has a private or business account. Again, you need a business account so that you can get analytics.
LinkedIn is a business orientated social media and can be used to promote yourself or your business.
YouTube is both and is tied up with your google account name.
Webtalk is a combination of business and private and you separate your followers and your content accordingly.
Create social media websites that look great.
If you already have a profile, ensure that you have a photo, a good header and ensure the bio is completed.
Make your site look great. If you have a following, stop worrying about increasing it and start working on your content.
Post regularly and where you can ensure that your website is included in your post. Add appropriate hashtags where possible so that others can find you when they are searching by topic. This enables others to do the hard work and find you, whilst you concentrate on offering them valuable content so that you keep them interested.
